Bucket O’ Bolts

Bucket o’ bolts in payment for a night’s work is held up by small-minded corporate bureaucrats.

One Response to “Bucket O’ Bolts”

  1. Jerr Says:

I helped a marine store move across a parking lot and in payment, instead of cash, I asked for a five-gallon bucket of stainless bolts. These are the ones dropped on the floor and are put in a bucket and then thrown out. The store manager was pleased to have my help for a barter of trash and I was pleased, as well: I don’t mind spending the time to sort through these expensive parts to get a stock of them for myself.

After years of requesting payment, I started getting serious in my request. The store manager has moved on and the new manager, who knows me and my reputation for scrupulous honesty asked his boss, the regional manager, permission to pay me my bucket of bolts… who has passed the buck to the district manager and his boss is the president of the national chain of stores, whom I will probably have to write letters to, asking for my bucket of bolts. I’m not above writing to the board of directors and will gladly travel to a board meeting to make a formal presentation.

Sometimes, corporate America has no idea how amusing it is!
