Is the diesel sailboat engine the most expensive per horsepower? A Volvo 24 horse @ $14K = $583/hp. How about replacing my stock Dodge Dakota truck engine for an equivalent $157,410?

Ah — my spouse has the world’s cheapest engine on her older 30’6″ Etchells — me and a paddle. It and its sisters probably are the biggest boats on the lake without engines; these skinny, low-slung cabinless boats are really just big dinghies.
